Jars, LED tealights with found glass, mattress springs, barbed wire, chicken wire

Created during my residency at the Desert Dairy in 29 Palms, California. Wandering around the grounds of the Dairy, I collected pieces of the broken glass that dotted the pale sand. There were jars and bottles as well as cans and old mattresses thoughtlessly tossed onto the sand and left to rust or used for target practice. I found myself trying to make something beautiful out of the detritus of this willful disregard for the delicate desert environment.
